What is an Epoxy Zinc-rich Primer?

The most commonly used organic zinc-rich primer is epoxy zinc-rich primer, in addition, there are epoxy grease zinc-rich primer and so on.

Epoxy zinc-rich primer is an epoxy primer prepared with zinc powder as anti-rust pigment, epoxy resin as film-forming material, polyamide resin or amine adduct as curing agent, and an appropriate mixed solvent. It dries quickly, has good adhesion, impact resistance, heat resistance up to 150 degrees, and abrasion resistance. It is a good primer choice for new construction or maintenance.

Compared with inorganic zinc-rich primers, the cathodic protection of epoxy zinc-rich primers is relatively weak because of lower conductivity. In addition, the acceptable chloride content of epoxy zinc-rich primer is relatively low, which is the biggest disadvantage when used in marine environments, so epoxy zinc rich primer is not suitable for such environments.
